Cooperation Works!
One of the major themes that I discovered during my reading of Lysistrata was that cooperation has many values and definitely can achieve what individuals can't do alone. The women of the play work together to pledge abstinence; all of them make a sacrifice so that the entire country can benefit from the resulting Peace. The men and women then unite to fight against each other. The men's firepots and the women's water just cancel each other out. When everyone decides to finally work as one whole, that's when peace s finally achieved. The women started the strike, but the men all had to agree, and the Spartans and Athenians had to reach a compromise. When all of this was cooperatively done (with Lysistrata overseeing, as she had been doing all play), Peace was at last within reach. Basically, all people have to do is truly want the same thing, and Lysistrata realized the way to make every man and woman of Greece to desire nothing more than peace.

im not sure if i completely agree with your assessment.
i think that definitely cooperation is a theme and eventually it works, butttt, there are several instances in which the women seem forced to cooperate with everyone.
right before the exchange between myrhinne and kinesias, most of the women are trying to escape and get out to their husbands.
so i would not completely say that the women cooperate. yes they do, buuut there have been instances in which the women dont look so good.
I think it did have to come from both sides, with the women they wanted to stop the war, and with the men they needed sex. So after both came to agreement, each side got what they wanted...I think you make a good point about a major point of the play
I agree bcuz they all got something in return. I think both men and women had to mae some sacrifices bcuz they both liked sex but at the same, the war was more important to the men. The end of the war was more important to the women they were willin to save sex and the men were willing to give up the war for sex...idk supsupsup?
Yes, I do agree that cooperation is a very key element in doing what the women want in the play, to restore peace and keep peace throughout all of Greece. I dont think that this could have been achieved without the acceptance of the men because they're would always be conflict between the men and women then.. Though we do not know what happened after the play was over and if peace really continued or if something drastic happened
