Dang, Hedda!

Wow Hedda just doesn't care about anything, huh? I don't feel bad for her at all. She just manipulates others, and all because she's bored!! What the mess is up w/ that?!? No one could possibly be that bored. So anyway, I still don't get what Hedda wants. She seems able to get whatever she wants, but at the same time she doesn't seem to have an agenda...

I believe that Hedda does have an agenda- it's just hidden so far down that it's not easily seen. She's manipulating others because she is bored, but she's also manipulating them towards her ultimate goal--which i won't reveal because not everyone has finished the play yet. In response to her boredness, I would say that coming from a prestigious family, and being stuck with a "specialist" who seems to care more about his work than her, well, wouldn't you be bored to some extent?

sorry i have to disagree there is one other person that could have been that bored from that short story the house with yellow walls or whatever its called the lady stared at those walls day and night and went crazy .... but anyways back to the point, yea i think her saying she has nothing and that she is bored is all a part of a secret plan that david is mentioning that will only reveal itself at the end during the climax of the story ... thats my guess at least... what do you think about the part when she says something like -o well since i cant have a horse or anything at least i have these two guns- do you believe shes alluding to anythign in particular besides a forshadowing?

ok well now that ive read the play, i'll comment again, and i dont think i agree with you, david. her ultimate goal was to control someone, but manipulation just for the feeling of power it gives you isnt really a reason at all! theres no actual plan, all in all i really dislike hedda...
